Villa Art Déco is a unique home with an architectural style inspired from Frank Lloyd Wright. The house, which is a perfect blend of modern style and fine craftsmanship material, was built with the “pierre du pont du Gard”, a precious local sandstone made with compressed sand and shells. With plenty of entertaining activities on-site, you are guaranteed a wonderful stay at this generous villa.
The villa is surrounded by a beautiful 1500 m2 landscaped garden with an expansive lawn and a few ornamental bushes, which offer the right amount of shade to cool off on hot summer days. With plenty of space, these gardens offer various activities for travellers to enjoy with friends and family: from a pétanque court to play the traditional provencal boules game to a ping-pong table, and even a few bikes to enjoy long rides along the “voie verte”, a beautiful and very popular promenade which runs along an old railway lane for about 40 kilometres starting from Nimes, via Sommières and up to the Cevennes slopes.
A long wooden terrace with its 8 sundeck chairs is the perfect place to relax and sunbathe by the pool. The 13 meters pool is an ideal one to play waterpolo games or other ball games as it has the same depth from beginning to end. Another perpendicular terrace runs along the front of the house and is overlooking the garden and pool and is equipped with an outdoor dining table for 8, some garden sofas and other garden tables and chairs.
From this south-facing terrace, tall glass windows lead directly to the living room and open kitchen. The elegantly decorated interiors are equipped with fine art-deco furniture, comfortable leather sofas and distinctive decorative arts. The large open living room is characterised by double-height sloping ceilings which give a great sense of space and light. On one side, the U shape open modern kitchen benefits from a bar counter with high stools, it is fully equipped with modern appliances and fine Limoge porcelain tableware. Directly facing the kitchen is a centrally positioned dining table that can seat up to 8 people, and on the opposite side is another set of beautiful Art deco armchairs and coffee tables. A long corridor leads to the bedroom area, with one extra-large master bedroom with its en-suite shower room and dressing, and two double bedrooms that share a family bathroom. All bedrooms have high-quality hotel beds (Treca) and linen, mosquito nets at the windows, and enjoy direct access to the south-facing terrace with a private table and chairs corner. An extra bedroom for kids or teenagers is accessed directly from the terrace and offers two single bunk beds, an open shower room and a separate toilet.
Villa Art Déco is located in Villevieille, a small traditional village neighbouring Sommières and ideally located 30 minutes away from Nimes, 30 minutes from Uzes, 30 minutes from the beaches of La Grande Motte, 30 minutes from Aigues Mortes, 30 minutes from an airport or train station and about 40 minutes from Montpellier. Near the house, you can find a bike lane under the trees that can lead you to Sommières and the Cévennes. Being a kid-friendly home, Villa Pierre de sable is truly a great fit for those who wish for a calm environment in the countryside.
