Inside, the architecture immediately makes an impression. A spectacular glazed entrance hall and airy staircase with suspended steps set the tone for the light-filled contemporary interiors. From here, the house flows naturally into the dining room and generous living space, where floor-to-ceiling glass doors open completely onto the garden and pool. A wonderfully comfortable designer sofa and decorative gas fireplace create an inviting place to gather, while the sleek contemporary kitchen, arranged around a large counter, is particularly well equipped for cooking and entertaining. The ground floor benefits from underfloor heating and cooling, with additional air conditioning in the kitchen and living room, and a guest WC near the entrance.
Upstairs are four air-conditioned bedrooms, each opening onto the south-facing terrace overlooking the garden. Two have super king-size 180 x 200cm beds that can also be arranged as twin 90cm beds, while the two further double bedrooms each have their own en-suite bathroom. The remaining two bedrooms share a family bathroom, and there is a separate WC on this floor.
The lower ground floor feels very much part of the house rather than an afterthought. There are two further double bedrooms, one with a 160cm bed and built-in wardrobe, the other with a 180cm bed, television and Apple TV, sharing a spacious bathroom with both bath and shower, plus a separate WC. This floor is also home to a private cinema room and a large gym and yoga space, ideal for morning workouts or a private yoga session.
Every bedroom is air-conditioned and fitted with electric shutters, while excellent Wi-Fi, supported by repeaters, reaches throughout the house, including the lower ground floor and outdoor spaces.
Castries is a lovely base for exploring this corner of the South of France. The historic village and its Château are close by, while the surrounding oak forests and garrigue invite morning walks and bike rides. Tennis and Padel courts are also nearby. Montpellier is around 15km away, as is Montpellier Méditerranée Airport, while the sandy Mediterranean beaches around Carnon are approximately 20km from the house. In other words, days can move easily between the pool, the coast, Montpellier’s old town and long lunches in the surrounding villages, with the calm of Villa Fontmarie to come home to.

Castries village centre is a few minutes walk from the villa, with a bakery, pharmacy, supermarket, butcher and several restaurants. Every Friday morning, the weekly market sets up on the Place de la Fraternité.
The village is also home to the 17th-century Château de Castries, a listed Historic Monument whose grounds, designed by André Le Nôtre.
For sport, the Tennis & Padel Club de Castries is 5 minutes from the villa (Chemin de Fondespierre), and the Golf de Massane at Baillargues, 18 holes, one of the finest courses in the region, is around 10 minutes by car.
Montpellier city centre is 15–20 minutes by car.
Montpellier Méditerranée Airport is approximately 20 minutes by car.
Mediterranean beaches (Carnon, Palavas-les-Flots, La Grande-Motte) are 35–40 minutes by car.
