The Villa la Paillote is set over two levels, overlooking a stunning and serene garden with its saltwater swimming pool and shaded terrace. The terrace has garden furniture for 8 people, so that family and friends can enjoy those sultry summer evenings. The outdoor dining area nearby, which also seats 8, allows for dinners by the water, catered for by the summer kitchen with its plancha and barbecue. Besides relaxing by the pool, lounging on the terrace and enjoying the shade of the century-old olive and pine trees, there are plenty of activities for young and old: from table tennis and a trampoline to a traditional game of pétanque on the purpose-made court.
The Villa la Paillote opens onto a grand entrance with a piano and bookshelves. The living area comprises a living room with a large sofa, armchairs, TV and contemporary decoration, a dining area with a table and chairs for 8 guests, and a modern, fully equipped kitchen (coffee machine, kettle, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, etc.) with a large central island seating 5 more. The house is light and airy thanks to the large bay windows, which give direct access to the terrace and swimming pool. The ground floor also offers a laundry room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board.
Also on the ground floor is the master bedroom, with its radiant floor cooling system, en-suite dressing room and bathroom with a shower and bathtub. This bedroom has direct access to the garden. Upstairs, the second living room has unobstructed views of the landscaped garden, the swimming pool and the wooden pergola. It leads to the 5 other bedrooms on this floor: 4 doubles and 1 single children’s room. These bedrooms share two modern and very well-lit shower rooms. Finally, the upper floor has shelves with dozens of board games for all ages, to keep the whole family entertained.
Villa Paillote has a garage for 1 car, which you will probably not need: most shops are within walking distance (village market, bakery, grocers, pharmacy, etc.), as the villa is a stone’s throw from the medieval centre of Sommières. The town is known not only as the region’s centre for leather and linen, but also as home to organic vineyards and olive oil producers. Its medieval fortress is not to be missed; you can climb up for views over the whole Vidourle valley on your way to the Saturday market. For outdoor enthusiasts, the area offers accrobranche (treetop adventure parks), outdoor escape rooms and sculpture parks (with demonstrations of ancient techniques), as well as a variety of sports: kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding, and cycling along the Voie Verte.
